Biography
Sayyid Muhammad Ali Gurgaani was born in Najaf in 1939. His
father was an eminent scholar who was admired by the people of Maazandaraan (a province in
north of Iran). After learning to write, Gurgaanis father assisted him in his
studies of Qur'anic recitation, literature and other Arabic sciences. When he was sixteen,
he traveled to Qom where he learned Sutouh (intermediate seminary studies) under many
famous scholars. At the age of twenty, he began attending Ayatollah Boroujerdi's lectures;
he remained Ayatollah Boroujerdis student for about three years. Gurgaani has also
benefited from the following scholars:

At present, Gurgaani is teaching Fiqh
and Usool (jurisprudence & its principles) in the Islamic Seminary of Qom.
